Visiting and STAYING AT KOPAN

Whether you want to attend one of our courses, do a retreat, or stay privately for a while for self study or reflection, Kopan is the right place.  You are welcome to combine your course or retreat course with a short private stay at the beginning or end. Kopan also welcomes groups to participate in our courses.  We accept group bookings and need ample notice. You are also welcome for a day visit

Day visit

Visiting hours are from 9 am - 5 pm. You are welcome to attend the Daily Dharma Talk at 10.30 am, (Mo - Fri) and stay for lunch in the Kopan cafe. Call our reception first to check if the Dharma talk is happening. We request you to dress suitable for a monastic environment. 

Please note: Day visits are not possible between November 11 and December 20. No dharma talks will take place during that time.

Local Group Visits

No Groups are admitted to Kopan between November 11 and December 20.  Kopan welcomes groups from local schools, organizations, overseas visitors. Please inform our reception (phone 4821 268) of your planned visit a few days in advance. Visiting hours are from 9 – 5 pm every day. Groups wishing to have lunch at the Kopan Cafe, please book in advance by calling our Cafe on 4820 915.

Travel agents

 Please note that large groups and tourist buses for day-visits are only accepted after making an appointment with the reception office. Without appointment, your bus will not be able to enter the monastery. We request you to kindly remind your guests to dress suitable for a monastery - please check Dress Guidelines here.   We appreciate your cooperation.
