Mahamudra is the practice of realizing the nature of our mind. And by realizing the nature of our mind we can overcome all our mental afflictions and suffering. This retreat will emphasize two core practices: shamatha and vipashyana. First the shamatha practice of cultivating a calm, clear and focussed mind through focussing on the mind itself and then the vipashyana practice of emptiness and in particular how to gain insight into the ultimate nature of our mind. Also included will be how to integrate Mahamudra practice into our daily life. Each session will include explanation, guided meditations and an opportunity to ask questions. This retreat will be based on the classic Mahamudra text from the great 17th century Tibetan master Panchen Losang Chogyi Gyeltsen.

This is an intermediate course and you are expected to be familar with Buddist terms and concepts. Having completed a ten day or seven day introductory course at Kopan Monastery, Tushita Dharamsala or any other Tibetan Buddhist Center will fully qualify you for this course.
